Out through Bannockburn, Lethbridge, Maude, Murgheboluc and Staughton Vale, mice are not a household nuisance so much as an agricultural one arriving indoors. When the crop comes off or the grass dries, they push toward buildings in numbers a suburban infestation never reaches, and the sheds and feed stores take it before the house does.
A mouse needs a gap about the width of a biro, so weep holes, vents, door sweeps and pipe penetrations all matter more than the bait does. Stations go along the runs between paddock, shed and house rather than just inside a kitchen. In a heavy season the work is about holding a line at the buildings, not clearing the paddock, and it pays to start before they are already in the wall cavity.
